There’s something truly magical about the holiday season in Southern California. While the rest of the country may be bundled up in heavy coats and snow boots, we get to experience the holidays with sunshine, palm trees, and just the right touch of winter chill. And honestly? I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
One of my favorite things about the holidays here is the balance. We still get all the festive joy, twinkling lights, Christmas music, cozy scents, and family traditions, but without having to shovel snow or brave icy roads. You can sip hot cocoa in the evening and still enjoy a sunny afternoon stroll earlier in the day. It’s the best of both worlds.
Living in Southern California means holiday traditions look a little different, and that’s part of the charm. Neighborhoods come alive with lights draped across palm trees, houses glowing with inflatables, and entire streets turning into drive-through light shows. Family nights are spent hopping in the car, grabbing Starbucks hot chocolate, turning on Christmas music, and driving around to admire the creativity and joy people pour into their homes. Those simple moments end up being the ones that mean the most.
The holiday season here also brings a strong sense of community. Local vendor markets, pop-ups, and holiday events are everywhere—from mountain towns like Oak Glen to charming city markets in Redlands and surrounding areas. As a small, family-run business, this time of year feels extra special. We get to meet customers face-to-face, share our handmade products, and spread holiday cheer one candle, soap, or tiny outfit at a time.
Of course, I can’t talk about the holidays without mentioning the scents. The cooler weather makes everything feel cozier, even if it’s still sunny outside. Warm vanilla, cinnamon, peppermint, pine, and lavender fill our home and our products, creating that comforting holiday atmosphere we all crave. Lighting a candle or using a beautifully scented soap instantly transforms an ordinary moment into something festive and calm.
Another reason I love the holidays in Southern California is how family-focused this season feels. Between decorating, baking, crafting, and spending time together, it’s a reminder to slow down and enjoy the present moment. Whether we’re decorating our tree, planning vendor events, or simply relaxing at home, the holidays give us permission to pause and soak in the joy.
At the heart of it all, the holiday season here is about gratitude. Gratitude for family, for community, for customers who support small businesses, and for the ability to create traditions that are uniquely our own. Southern California may not give us snow-covered rooftops, but it gives us warmth—in the weather, in our communities, and in the way we celebrate.
And honestly, that’s what makes the holiday season here so special. 🎄✨
